At English Rose Jewellery, we take the authenticity and quality of every piece seriously. Here's what that looks like in practice.

How We Verify Our Pieces

• Fine jewellery is sent to assay offices for hallmarking to confirm metal composition and purity.
• For genuine antique pieces, we choose not to apply a new hallmark — adding a contemporary assay mark would devalue the piece and misrepresent its provenance. Sheffield Assay Office does not backdate hallmarks, and we respect that integrity.
• We use professional metal testers and gemstone testers on every applicable piece.
• UV lighting and additional methods are used to identify and verify stones.
• For significant or unusual pieces, we seek expert opinion — including from specialist auction houses such as Sotheby's.

• Years of self-directed research into antique silver hallmarks, assay marks, date letters, maker's marks, fine metals, and precious stones.

An Honest Note
